#CaspersAdvent2013

Posted January 6th, 2014 by Sally and filed in Uncategorized

We tried to put some intentionality into the run-up to Christmas this year, so I cooked up a little countdown. Every night, we did one “special thing” which was annotated on a card hung near our stockings.

I couldn’t have managed to blog it all, but Instagram was at the ready to capture the memories. When it was over, I used another app to make a video of all the photos we took. Thank goodness for the iPhone or memory-keeping would be lost altogether in this crazy.

So, here it is. Our advent 2013.

Wishing everyone a joyful 2014!

Back in the Saddle

So, the capstone is done and presented and the light at the end of the master’s degree tunnel is getting big and bright.  I’m gradually getting back into the swing of things other than paper writing and blogging is at the top of the list for the beginning of this week.  Until I get all the posts written that I’ve got the photos for, here’s a couple to say….”We’re back!”

Back soon…

So it’s Spring Break in Las Vegas and all the public schools are out for the week.  What that means for you, dear readers, is that this blog will be quiet this week.  I’m deep in paper writing (I need to produce approx. 30 pages this week) and won’t be using up my words on blog posts.  Wish I could say that we’re jet-setting off to somewhere fun and we’ll have loads of pictures when we get back but, alas, that’s just not our style these days.

Don’t stray too far…hopefully, we’ll be back with some more excitement from around the casa by the end of the weekend.  Goodness knows that I’ve got a camera full of pictures just waiting to be shared with all of you.  We’ll be back soon!

Honey Honey Princess

Last summer, we signed up for Netflix and one of the first movies we got was Mamma Mia. Matt and I realized that we didn’t have nearly enough ABBA in our music collection. Fast forward to Christmas and now we have more ABBA in our music collection that one family probably should.

All that to say that we played a lot of the Mamma Mia soundtrack there for a while and now Ava’s favorite song is ABBA’s “Honey, Honey,” performed by Amanda Seyfried. We have a nightly dance party to this song and have recently had to institute a two-play maximum for the song – just to save the sanity of any adults in the house.
Since this is such a defining moment in our day (it’s the lead up to playing chase and hide-and-go-seek for the next half hour) we thought we’d share our ABBA inspired dinner and dance routine.
Enjoy!
